Being a Yamaha fan doesn't make writing a review all that fair as I am somewhat partial to their products. But most Yamaha products I have ever owned have always lived up to the purchase expectations. This is my seond Waverunner, my first was a used XLT1200, I sold it to friends.
The FX and XLT perform on par with each other as far as top end, hole shot, handling etc. The FX improves on the overall ride substantially, eats the chop better, isn't as tippy, more secure when plowing over or through big wakes. The fit and finish is on par and seems well done, I miss the fact that you cannot take the front and rear containers out like on the XLT, seems they givith and taketh away. I really think the machine needs the rear step, seems more difficult to clamor aboard than the XLT did???
This is a really nice machine, the 4 stroke motor is many times more pelasent than the 2 stroke, no choke to start, no smoking or stink and little if anything is lost in performance.
Very pleased, and my friends love it as much as I do!!!!
Upgrades/Accessories: bought the anchor for the SUV, I want an anchor that works, also got 2 extra wrist straps with whistles, and assorted goodies.
